FAFNM offers guided walks on Monument streams during 2019.  These interpretive tours promote the Smithsonian AZ Water/Ways traveling exhibit, which runs in Black Canyon City until January 26, 2020.

On Sunday, 1/19, this walk will visit the ephemeral Badger Spring Wash to see the effects of the Badger Fire that occurred June 2019.  We'll note winter's migrating birds (towhees, meadowlark, goldfinch, ruby-crowned kinglet, woodpeckers, wrens, gnatcatchers, and an unusual pipit) in this delicate riparian area.  Other sights:  the famous petroglyps.  The trail is in the sandy wash, so there will be low flow, some mud, and small rocks.  Size limit: 15 persons.  Good for students.

Badger Spring Wash is located 50 miles north of Phx. Take I-17 exit #256; go east one mile on a dirt road.  Free event.  Meet at Badger Spring Wash trailhead (just past the outhouse).
