June 24 is the 10th annual Wet-Dry (WD) mapping of the Agua Fria River on the Monument. Advanced registration is required. We send 18 teams of 2-4 volunteers to hike along the stream channel (2-5 mile segments) to document where surface water begins and ends. Requires use of a Garmin GPS unit and completion of paper data forms. The W/D training and team assignments will occur the previous Saturday morning, June 17, at BLM (see FAFNM Calendar). Prepare for hot conditions.
This video (from the San Pedro group) provides a good introduction to the W/D work we will do on the Agua Fria.
