Monthly Cultural Resources Committee Meeting
Open to all FAFNM Members interested in the cultural resources of Agua Fria NM, to include archaeological, historical and more.
Typically meets at the BLM Offices at 20th St. and Bell Road in Phoenix, but may be on Zoom or another location if BLM offices are unavailable.
March 17, 2026 meeting will be a hybrid meeting. In person will be 12:00 Noon at the Edelweiss Biergarten, 2625 E Bell Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85032. It will also be on Zoom for those that cannot attend in person. The Zoom invite will be sent out within 24 hours prior to the meeting.
Agendas are sent out by email a day or two in advance. Meeting reminders sent by email about one week in advance.

Cultural Resources Committee Archaeological Field Work
(Must be FAFNM Member. Please RSVP)
Location: In the area of Arrastre Creek just east of BLM9007 on AFNM's Black Mesa.
Purpose: Use compass and tape to more accurately determine location of numerous archaeological features previously located in the area. Those include grinding slicks, petroglyphs, artifacts and structures.
Meet on east side of I-17 Sunset Point Exit 252 at 10:00am. Probably done by 2:00pm.
Need high clearance vehicle or ride with someone who has one.
Bring sturdy hiking shoes, drinking water, lunch, sun protection and whatever...
Trip will be postponed in case of muddy roads or inclement weather.

10:00am to 3:00pm on Saturday 3/38 and Sunday 3/29.
FAFNM will be exhibiting using their new Logo Canopy
Members are encouraged to attend, and it would be really great if they could help out for a period of time in the exhibit booth.

To get more timely information, please email Scott at jscottwood@aol.com with your name, email address, phone number, level of expertise (beginners welcome; they'll be matched with the more experienced) and type vehicle. Some areas on AFNM require high clearance, and in a few cases, 4-wheel drive. If you do not have a trail worthy vehicle, rides can be arranged.
